Skinny Stars

* Re “There Is Nothing Like a Dame--Nothing on Screen, Anyway,” Opinion, April 1: Thank you, Julia Gorin! I have never understood why the women of show business allow themselves to be de-womanized into skinny, bony skeletons, at great risk to their physical and mental health (Judy Garland, etc.).
They should rally behind their actors guild and demand that weight discrimination be outlawed in their workplace, just as racial discrimination and sexual harassment are. Why the show business executives think skinny women are sexy is a mystery. Ask any man. Maybe the people who run show business are women haters. Women of show business, use your celebrity to oppose this stupid oppression and do everyone’s daughters a favor.
