Routine Siren Test Planned Near Lake Casitas

Share

There will be a routine test at noon Wednesday of the Lake Casitas flood warning system, county officials said Monday.

Chimes, tones and voice messages in English and Spanish will sound for 10 minutes from 11 sirens that line Ventura Avenue and California 33, between the dam and the ocean, officials said.

The sirens were installed to warn people to flee to high ground in the event that an earthquake collapses the dam holding back the lake.

Similar tests are scheduled on the second Wednesdays of July and October.
