Energy Conservation

* During the Carter administration, there were tax credits for solar energy equipment. We installed a solar water heater, which after tax deductions and credits was not very expensive, and our gas bill was cut in half during the summer months. Our solar pool heater extended the swimming season from March to November. Both of these systems are still working, with only small maintenance costs.

With all the ranting and raving of the past few months, I have heard conservation mentioned only as an afterthought, solar electrical generation for homes only in a couple of ads and nothing about solar water heaters, pool heaters and the like. What happened to our brains?
