Concorde Flies Out of Paris for Tests
From Times Wire Reports
An Air France Concorde outfitted with newly designed tires left Charles de Gaulle Airport for a military base in southern France to undergo air and ground tests.
The delta-winged jet flew at subsonic speed without passengers.
Technicians intend to try out new tires developed by Michelin as part of tests aimed at returning the supersonic fleet to commercial service.
After a crash July 25 that killed 113 people, all 12 remaining Air France and British Airways Concordes were grounded.
