* Notes: Sorenstam, the 1997 winner, is trying to match Nancy Lopez’s tour record of five consecutive victories. Sorenstam, Mickey Wright (1962, 1963) and Kathy Whitworth (1969) are the only players to win four consecutively scheduled events. Lopez skipped a tournament after her third consecutive victory in 1978. Sorenstam became the first woman to shoot a 59 in tournament play last month in Phoenix, and won the Nabisco Championship the following week for her first major title since 1996. After opening with two runner-up finishes in Hawaii, she successfully defended the Welch’s-Circle K title in Tucson. She has earned $756,448 this year to top the tour’s all-time money list with $6,957,044. . . . The Kathy Ireland Championship is next week at Onion Creek in Austin, Texas.
