Fast-Moving Storm Bringing Rain and Cold to Southland
A fast-moving storm was expected to dump half an inch of rain overnight throughout Ventura County before clearing up today.
Scattered showers were forecast until noon, giving way to partly cloudy skies for the rest of the day, according to the National Weather Service.
A winter weather advisory is in effect today for the mountains of Ventura and Los Angeles counties, with 4 to 7 inches of snow expected at 4,000 feet and above.
“The storm is coming down from the Gulf of Alaska and is moving quickly,” meteorologist John Gorman said. “This is a cold storm for spring. It’s not unusual but definitely below normal.”
“It’s a little late for a storm this cold,” Gorman said. The snow level, he said, is expected to start at 5,000 feet and fall to 3,000 feet by morning.
“But it’s a quick little system; things should bounce back to normal by Monday,” he said.
High temperatures today will be in the upper 50s and lower 60s. Mostly sunny skies are forecast for Sunday with temperatures in the mid-60s and lower 70s.
