Perry D. Davidson; 75-Year County Resident

Longtime Ventura County resident Perry D. Davidson, a former lumber yard foreman, died Sunday at his home in Santa Paula. He was 86.

Davidson was born Nov. 13, 1914, in Menard, Texas, and lived in Ventura County for 75 years.

He worked for People’s Lumber Co. in Santa Paula, where he was the yard foreman until the business closed in 1970. He also worked part-time at Mupu Elementary School for 40 years and, in 1978, he retired from Dave’s Building Supplies.

He married Midge Lindsey in 1940, and they were lifelong members of the Santa Paula Church of Christ. Davidson was preceded in death by his wife in 1999.

He loved reading Louis L’Amour novels and had a large circle of friends who remember his laughter.

Davidson is survived by sons Rex D. Davidson and Brett Davidson, daughters Donna Burton and Deborah Malone, brother Boots Davidson and nine grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Pierce Bros. Stetler Mortuary, Santa Paula, which is handling the arrangements.

Graveside services are scheduled at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pierce Bros. Stetler Cemetery, with Jim Huggins of the Santa Paula Church of Christ officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to a favorite charity.
