The Los Angeles Times reported a 0.5% increase in Sunday circulation but a 4.8% decline in average daily circulation for the six-month period ended March 31. Sunday circulation rose 6,655 to 1,391,343 and daily circulation fell 53,291 to 1,058,494, The Times said. The newspaper, a unit of Chicago-based Tribune Co., attributed the decline in daily circulation to the cancellation of circulation programs, including the discontinuation of a distribution arrangement with the Spanish-language daily La Opinion. Excluding the La Opinion gains and reductions in its “bonus days” promotion, The Times said its daily circulation would have been up more than 19,000, or 1.8%.
