Marimba Firing 60 Workers:

Marimba Inc., which makes products used to distribute software via the Internet, is firing 60 workers, or about 20% of its staff, as part of an effort to cut costs by $8 million a year. Marimba, whose shares have plunged 96% from their record high in May 1999, also cut executives’ pay and withheld their cash bonuses. The steps are intended to reduce the Mountain View, Calif.-based company’s expenses by $2 million every three months.
