A Legend That Keeps Rocking

The Troubadour rocks! Everyone’s still talking about the Strokes’ sold-out show on Friday night and-surprise, surprise-the Foo Fighters’ Sunday night performance at the legendary WeHo club, again with the Atomic Punks. (Both also played Paladino’s in Tarzana on Friday). Among those who turned out for Sunday’s show were Queens of the Stone Age, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Elemental, the hot, young rock quartet that’s got a muy grande Viper Room showcase on Aug. 27.

In more Viper Room news, Camaro Club promoter Josh Richman and Sal Jenco threw a lovely party for promoter Dayle Gloria on Monday, and members of Suicidal Tendencies, Rumblefish, Medication and Tough turned out to cheer her on, with Metal Shop/Atomic Punks rocker Mike Diamond singing her an X-rated version of the birthday song. Look for upcoming record release parties at the Viper for Snap Dragon (Monday) and Sugarcult (Aug. 20).

In even more Viper news, Thursday’s Joe Strummer show was so good (how good was it?) that Viper cashier Sean G says he was beside himself with glee. Listening to the famed Clash-man convinced Sean that there are still real people in the world.... We hear Club Make-Up’s tribute to caped crusaders on Saturday was a blast from the past but the phones are already ringing off the hizzook about the Sept. 1 Madonna bash. The monthly glam-rock club at the El Rey Theatre is hosting an enormo tribute to the punk rock mommy.... Alright, I’m late for a very important date. Martha Davis is playing a month of Tuesdays at the Knitting Factory’s Alterknit Lounge, and she goes on at 8 p.m. That’s like 6 a.m. in rocker time, so I gotta amscray.
