Berkow Steps Into Police Chief’s Post on Monday

South Pasadena’s former police chief is scheduled to take over Monday as head of the Irvine Police Department.
Michael Berkow, 46, who has led the 34-officer South Pasadena Police Department for the past four years, was selected to replace retiring Police Chief Charles Brobeck after a nationwide search.
Irvine has 170 sworn officers and more than 30 civilian employees.
