Dazzling in Dana Point

Selma Blair made the most of her weekend at Dana Point’s newest luxury hotel, the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort & Spa. On Saturday, she spent the afternoon diving for quarters in the hotel’s pool. That night, at the opulent opening bash, Blair and Julianna Margulies sang along to “Sweet Caroline” by the Neil Diamond cover band, Super Diamond as “Felicity’s” Keri Russell boogied nearby.

Blair, who said she saw the band at their recent sold-out House of Blues show, cooed over lead singer Randy Cordero: “He’s very sexy.”

Angela Bassett, taking a break from filming the story of Rosa Parks, was less enthusiastic. “I’m not a big Neil Diamond fan,” she said. “But these guys are good.”

Earlier in the evening, Blair and Margulies watched the sun set over the ocean at the candle-lighted table they shared with cuddling spouses Shiva Rose and Dylan McDermott.

As the glamorous foursome drew admiring glances from guests, Blair mused on the weirder parts of fame. During a recent expedition in Montana, fellow rock climbers kept trying to place her. “They were going, ‘Oh my God, you look exactly like Selma Blair,’ ” she said laughing.

After a caviar, foie gras and lobster buffet dinner, the 500 or so guests were treated to a concert by Chris Isaak. In a red rockabilly glitter jacket, Isaak promised ABBA hits and hand puppets. Luckily, he stuck to his own music.

“Meet the Parents” star Teri Polo, who had just wrapped “Domestic Disturbance” with John Travolta , held forth on her co-star: “I love him. He’s probably on my top two list of favorite people.”

And No. 1?

“Bob,” of course.

(That would be Robert De Niro to the rest of us.)

Rehab Report

Wondering why Roger Clinton didn’t appear in court last week as he was spared a possible jail term for drunk driving? Turns out the former first half-brother is in rehab in Arizona.

Attorney Mark Geragos, who represented Clinton in the drunk-driving case filed by Hermosa Beach police, confirmed that his client has been in rehab since mid-July, but declined to discuss details. Last week, Clinton was nowhere to be seen as Geragos entered a guilty plea on his behalf to a single count of reckless driving in connection with an arrest in February. Charges of drunk driving and disturbing the peace were dismissed.

Geragos isn’t disputing a report in this week’s National Enquirer which states that Clinton entered the $675-a-day Cottonwood de Tucson rehab center on July 19 for a 28-day stay.

Rock Star Rendezvous

We bumped into Stephan Jenkins, lead singer of Third Eye Blind, as he visited friends at the P.R. firm People’s Revolution on Friday. Jenkins bearhugged the Melrose Avenue firm’s owner Kelly Cutrone on the hood of her blue Barracuda. We were happy just to shake his hand.

Jenkins and Mark Wahlberg play rival rockers in the upcoming movie, “Rock Star,” with Jennifer Aniston. Jenkins, who was touring with his band during filming, said, “I went in, destroyed his band’s fliers, squeezed his girlfriend’s [derriere] “ Then, Jenkins did what any real life rocker would do: he continued his tour.

The singer is planning a breast cancer benefit at the Greek Theatre on Oct. 27, and has enrolled an A-list of musician friends--the list is not official yet so we won’t tell. “It’s not going to be pretty,” he said. “It’s going to be a Bacchanalia.”

A Potent Message

Although Earth, Wind & Fire’s next tour, which kicks off in September, will be sponsored by Viagra, audiences shouldn’t get too excited.

Concertgoers will be able to get free health screenings forhigh cholesterol and signs of diabetes, but as far as the remedy that Bob Dole made famous, only information will be dispensed, not the little blue, diamond-shaped pills.

Three band members, Philip Bailey, Verdine White and Ralph Johnson, turned 50 this summer and decided the health message was important.

“It’s about maintaining a high quality of life,” said Johnson, who has been a member of the multi-platinum, Grammy-winning group since its inception 30 years ago. “Men our age have a tendency to stay away from the doctor.”

Johnson, who has two black belts in karate, said he is fit as a fiddle. “I feel like I’m 20. I take care of myself. You don’t want to see me walking on stage with a big pot belly.”

The tour begins Sept. 1 in Florida. The band will appear Oct. 2 and 4 at the Universal Amphiteatre.
