Habitat for Humanity and the local Kiwanis Club will start construction today on a house in Long Beach for a needy family.

The first wall of the home will go up at 2 p.m. at 625 Hill St., marking the 20th house built in 10 years by the South Bay-Long Beach chapter of Habitat.

The Kiwanis Club of Long Beach raised the money for building materials and will pitch in with Habitat volunteers to build the house.
