Police, Embassy Seek Missing U.S. Yale Student
South African police and the U.S. Embassy in Pretoria said they were searching for an American student who disappeared July 31 after saying she feared for her life.
Natasha Smalls, a 20-year-old senior at Yale, was last seen on the campus of the University of Natal in the coastal city of Durban, where she had been studying. She was supposed to fly home to New York City on Aug. 1 but never arrived.
Glory Smalls said she last spoke to her daughter July 26. In a phone call, the student said she feared for her life and had been locked up in a psychiatric hospital in Zimbabwe.
