A couple was rescued from the Chesapeake Bay two hours after their sailboat and a tanker carrying fuel oil collided.

Kathleen and Todd Davis, who were wearing life jackets, jumped from their 27-foot boat about 3 a.m. near the Bay Bridge when they realized they were about to be hit by the ship. Maryland Natural Resources Police officers, summoned by the tanker crew, rescued the two shortly after 5 a.m.
