Curses! Are Dodgers to Be Foiled Again?

Share

Here’s my theory on the Dodgers’ troubles this season: It’s a curse!

Boston has the “Curse of the Bambino”--why can’t L.A. have the curse of the ... (OK, I don’t have a catchy nickname for Piazza available). Granted we haven’t had a Buckner-esque happening yet, but it only seems that right when the Dodgers are ready to live up to their potential, some sort of unfair shake happens.

Whether it’s Beltre’s botched appendectomy, Dreifort being lost for seemingly the next millennium, getting rid of Pedro Martinez before he becomes one of baseball’s best pitchers, the whole fiasco with “the Sheriff” ... This is getting ridiculous!

Boston sold the Bambino for $125,000. L.A. traded Piazza for, in the end, an overrated and egotistical crybaby (personally I’d rather have the 125K).

Piazza is no Bambino, but he could go down as the greatest catcher of all-time before he’s done.

I think the signs may be there for many long and painful years for Dodger fans. I just hope if Karros gets his chance, he can field the lazy ground ball.
