U.S., Peru Pilots Missing in Anti-Drug Flight Crash

A Peruvian pilot and his U.S. instructor who were training for anti-drug interdiction flights were missing after their plane crashed into the Pacific Ocean, Peru’s air force said.

The A-37B crashed off the northern coast Thursday. The cause was not immediately known.

The U.S. suspended its drug surveillance program over Peru and Colombia in April after a missionary plane was shot down by mistake, killing two Americans. Training for the program has continued.
