Himalayas Due for Large Earthquakes, Study Says

At least one earthquake of magnitude 8.1 to 8.3--perhaps as many as seven--are overdue along the Himalayas and may occur “very soon,” according to research at the University of Colorado reported in the current issue of Science. In geologic terms, “very soon” could mean a century or two.
