They Won’t Give Props
Oh, buoy. The San Francisco Port Commission has decided to put up buoys in the bay and outlaw motorized boats within 70 feet of the right-field promenade of the Giants’ Pacific Bell Park.
The reason? Port officials figure someone could get hurt out there in the water as the growing flotilla of small craft chop the water with homer-craving boaters trying to scoop baseballs as they splash in the area known as McCovey Cove.
Anybody caught using a propeller-driven craft in the no-motor zone could be fined up to $500 and face possible jail time.
