From Times wire reports

Lodi is heading to court to fight a state order to chlorinate its water. Officials have invalidated a number of tests that found bacteria, and the state claims the city is improperly testing for germs.

Lodi is the largest city in the state that doesn’t regularly chlorinate its drinking water.

Officials will ask a judge Wednesday to invalidate an order from the state Department of Health Services.

Frank Beeler, Lodi’s assistant superintendent for water, said that the city’s testing methods are more stringent than other communities’ and that it is being punished for reporting too much data.
