Man Gets Probation in AIDS Cure Scam

A Rancho Palos Verdes man was placed on five years probation Monday for selling bottles of water laced with particles of silver as a cure for AIDS.
Steven Tondre, 44, also was fined $4,000 and ordered to pay more than $12,000 in restitution to people who bought his potion, EXP, over the Internet at $50 a bottle.
The judge gave Tondre, an electrical handyman, 10 days to take down his Web site.
