Election Day Arrives for 3 Seeking Wachs’ Seat

Voters go to the polls today to fill the 2nd District seat on the Los Angeles City Council. The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The three candidates are Van Nuys businessman James Cordaro, DreamWorks SKG executive Wendy Greuel and Assemblyman Tony Cardenas (D-Panorama City).

The district includes Sunland-Tujunga, Shadow Hills and La Tuna Canyon, and parts of Sun Valley, North Hollywood, Arleta, Lake View Terrace, Panorama City, Mission Hills, North Hills, Valley Village, Studio City and Van Nuys.

If no candidate wins a majority, the top two vote-getters will be in a runoff election March 5.

The council vacancy was created when Joel Wachs resigned to head an art foundation in New York.
