This Mini Is for Those Who Can’t Wait for the Real Thing

A mini-Mini?

That’s what they promise at www.miniusa.com, where aficionados of BMW Group’s revamped Mini Cooper who don’t want to wait until the real thing hits the U.S. in the spring can pick up a remote-controlled model of the iconic British mini-car.

It’s a 1:12-scale replica of a white-topped red Mini Cooper, detailed down to the speedometer in the center of the dash.

Its controller has a range of 50 feet, and its electric motor will propel it to a blistering 9 mph (118 mph at 1:12 scale).

The price? A mere $110, which is way less than 1:12 scale, as the real Mini Cooper is expected to be about $17,000.
