Rangers Lose, Acquire Barnaby

Andy Delmore scored two goals and the Nashville Predators defeated the New York Rangers, 4-2, Wednesday night at New York.

Eric Lindros had two goals for the Rangers, but left with a right knee sprain late in the second period.

Cliff Ronning assisted on Delmore’s second goal for the 500th point of his career.

Earlier, the Rangers acquired right wing Matthew Barnaby, 28, from the Tampa Bay Lightning for left wing Zdeno Ciger.

Barnaby led the league last season with 265 penalty minutes.

Colorado 5, Columbus 1--Rob Blake had a goal and an assist at Denver, and Colorado extended its unbeaten streak to 10.

Patrick Roy had 19 saves to extend his league-record victory total to 497.

Tampa Bay 3, Calgary 1--Tampa Bay’s Nikolai Khabibulin made 28 saves at Calgary as the Lightning ended a six-game road winless streak.

Khabibulin lowered his goals-against average to 1.86 and increased his save percentage to .940.

New Jersey 3, New York Islanders 2--Scott Niedermayer scored on a power play at 1:25 of overtime at East Rutherford, N.J.

Petr Sykora and Jason Arnott also scored as the Devils won for the fourth time in six games.

Kenny Jonsson and Michael Peca scored for the Islanders.

Boston 4, Pittsburgh 2--Bill Guerin scored twice and the Bruins withstood two Alexei Kovalev goals to hold off the Penguins at Pittsburgh.

Carolina 4, Florida 1--Bates Battaglia had two goals and an assist at Raleigh, N.C.

Pavel Bure, the league’s leading scorer the last two seasons, played for the first time after sitting out seven games because of a concussion.

Dallas 4, Buffalo 3--Jere Lehtinen scored two goals, including the game-winner with 2:18 remaining, at Dallas. It was the 100th goal of his career.

Montreal 3, Atlanta 3--Ilya Kovalchuk scored with 9.1 seconds remaining in regulation to give the Thrashers a tie at Atlanta.

St. Louis 2, Chicago 2--Keith Tkachuk scored the only goal of the third period to help St. Louis get a tie at Chicago.
