The Flames traded forward Jeff Cowan and the rights to junior defenseman Kurtis Foster to the Atlanta Thrashers for disgruntled defenseman Petr Buzek and a draft choice.

The Thrashers suspended Buzek on Nov. 24 after he refused to play because of a contract dispute, and Buzek filed a grievance.

The suspension was lifted two weeks later when Buzek, 24, agreed to report to the minors and drop the grievance.
