Woman Charged With Killing Her Newborn

A Los Angeles woman was charged Friday with stabbing her newborn baby to death.
Ada Yamilet Carranza, 25, who has a 4-year-old son, allegedly concealed her latest pregnancy from her parents and then stabbed the baby several times Wednesday after it started crying, so family members wouldn’t discover she had just given birth.
The baby was found in a trash bin near Nicolet Avenue and Coliseum Street by a man collecting cans.
Scent hounds led police to Carranza’s apartment about a block away, prosecutors said. She pleaded not guilty in Los Angeles County Superior Court Friday and is being held on more than $1-million bail.
