AT&T; Sells Remaining Stake in Wireless Unit

AT&T; Corp., which is selling assets to reduce debt, said it has sold the last of its stock in the company’s former wireless unit for $1.4 billion.

New York-based AT&T; kept a $3-billion stake in AT&T; Wireless Services Inc., the third-largest U.S. mobile phone company, when the business was spun off in July, AT&T; Wireless said. The company already had reduced that stake by $1.6 billion as part of its debt reduction plan, said David Caouette, a spokesman for Redmond, Wash.-based AT&T; Wireless.

Shares of AT&T;, also the nation’s largest long-distance telephone company, were unchanged at $18.35. AT&T; Wireless fell 9 cents to $13.29. Both trade on the NYSE.
