From Times Staff Reports
Two men dressed in black robbed the El Rio Central Market on Monday, escaping with an undisclosed amount of cash and checks.
The crime occurred about 3:45 p.m., when the pair walked into the store in the 2400 block of Vineyard Avenue, threatened the clerk with a handgun and demanded money, said Sheriff’s Capt. Jerry Hernandez.
The men then ran out the front door and around the back of the market.
Sheriff’s deputies are still investigating the incident and so far have no suspects.
