A $3-Million House on the Westside Fit for a Teen Queen
Singer Britney Spears is due to close escrow today on an L.A. home for $3 million.
Spears, 19, who performed Sunday at the Super Bowl halftime show in Tampa, Fla., released her first album and hit single “Baby One More Time” in 1999. Last year she won the American Music Award for favorite new pop-rock artist.
In January, her second album, “Oops! . . . I Did It Again” earned her Grammy nominations for female pop vocalist and pop vocal album. The Grammy Awards are Feb. 22. Spears plans to record a duet with Madonna and to star in a film, as yet untitled, about coming of age.
Her new, Mediterranean-style home is on the Westside, not in Beverly Hills, as has been widely rumored. The home has five bedrooms in more than 6,000 square feet.
There are provisions for live-in security, said area Realtors not involved in the deal. The home, described as being “like a fortress” behind gates, also has a long, private drive as well as city views, a pool, a spa and a guest house.
Spears’ family home is in Louisiana.

Benson Ford Jr., a great-grandson of auto pioneer Henry Ford and nephew of Henry Ford II, and his wife, Francie, are having a four-bedroom, 10,000-square-foot home built in Dana Point.
The couple had started remodeling a house, which was originally a motel, on a Dana Point lot they had purchased for $2.5 million. Then they decided to start from scratch. They bought the house next door, also for $2.5 million, and now plan to build one house on both lots.
The old houses are being demolished, and in their place the couple will build a Palm Beach-style home with 90 feet of sand. The new house also will have a 60-by-30-foot master suite; a game room; a sun deck; a library-movie theater; an all-glass stairwell; and parking for 11 cars. The Fords, whose main home is in Detroit, own Fords as well as such cars as a Ferrari and a Morgan convertible, which took two years to build.
Dugally-Oberfeld, chaired by Aleck Dugally, is builder-designer of the Dana Point home. The firm also created homes for the Fords in Key Largo and Dallas.

Toni Patillo, a business manager who handles Beverly Sassoon’s health-care products, has sold her L.A.-area home for about its $699,000 asking price. Patillo was owner of a holistic body salon and before that was CFO of de Passe Entertainment and was an investment manager with Dick Clark Productions.
She sold a Spanish-style four-bedroom home with a breakfast room and a family room leading to a deck. The home also has a garden and a waterfall.
Patillo, who plans to buy up, was represented by Adrian Grant of Prudential John Aaroe & Associates, Beverly Hills.
