Man Convicted of Murdering His Wife’s Boss
A 64-year-old musician who shot and killed his estranged wife’s boss because he suspected that they were having an affair was convicted last week in Pasadena of first-degree murder.
Stephen Kopy, an accordion player from North Hills, shot Andrew John Camarata, 63, of La Crescenta at Aramark Uniform Services in downtown Burbank on June 12.
Camarata was vice president of operations and support for the company’s uniform division.
Kopy was also convicted Friday in Pasadena Superior Court of two counts of assault for pointing a gun at his wife, Martha, and at another Aramark employee, said Sandi Gibbons, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
Kopy, who is facing 50 years to life in prison, is scheduled to be sentenced March 12, officials said.
His suspicions that his wife was having an affair with Camarata were unfounded, Burbank police said.
