Senior Center Gets $50,000 Donation
Los Robles Regional Medical Center announced a $50,000 donation to Senior Concerns for its building expansion campaign--the single-largest private gift received to date, officials said.
The nonprofit group dedicated to special-needs senior citizens now has $1.1 million toward the $1.8-million project, which will nearly double the size of the organization’s Fitzgerald Senior Day Support Center on Hodencamp Road, said executive director Lynn Engelbert.
Robert Shaw, president and chief executive officer of the hospital, announced the donation at a breakfast meeting Thursday.
“Our donation is an investment in the future health care of the senior community, and I can’t think of a better partnership right now,” he said.
Senior Concerns plans to start building the single-story addition this spring and finish in late 2002, Engelbert said.
When completed, the building will have 10,300 square feet, and daily program capacity will increase from 40 to 80.
In addition to the Fitzgerald center, Senior Concerns operates Ventura County Alzheimer’s Day Care Resource Center, Meals on Wheels, Senior Advocates counseling program and the Bargain Boutique thrift shop.
