* Last event: Canada’s Lorie Kane won the Takefuji Classic, closing with a six-under-par 66 for a tournament-record 11-under 205 total. Sweden’s Annika Sorenstam finished second, two strokes back.

* Notes: Karrie Webb is winless in four starts this year after opening last season with four consecutive victories. The Australian star was sixth last week in Keauhou after finishing second in her final two starts in Florida. . . . Kane leads the money list with $203,790, only $1,239 ahead of Webb. . . . The tour is off the next two weeks. Play will resume March 8-11 with the Welch’s/Circle K Championship in Tucson.

* Purse: $1.4 million. Winner’s share: $210,000.

* Television: PAX (Friday, 10 a.m.-noon) and CNBC (Saturday-Sunday, 3-5 p.m.).

* Last year: Bruce Fleisher won his ninth senior title in a little more than a year, beating Dana Quigley by four strokes.

* Last week: Gil Morgan won the ACE Group Classic in Naples, Fla., closing with a six-under 66 for a two-stroke victory over Quigley. Morgan also won the 1998 tournament.

* Notes: Jack Nicklaus is making his first official start of the year. He finished second in the Senior Skins Game three weeks ago in Hawaii. . . . Larry Nelson tied for eighth in Naples after winning his first two events of the year. He has six victories in his last 11 starts. . . . The Mexico Senior Classic is next week, followed by the Toshiba Senior Classic in Newport Beach.
