Property Tax Exemption

Share

A fair and equal tax cut, by way of an increase of the primary residence homeowner’s property-tax exemption, would be a benefit to all families, and even more so for lower-income homeowners. Who would argue that it would not be a fair deal?

Home property-tax exemption in the state of Hawaii is $40,000 since 1991, amended to keep up with rising real property values. In California it is still a miserly $7,000 that has not caught up with the reality of rising property values here. Homeowners, contact your legislators if you feel an amended principal home exemption is due.
