Tropical Sportswear May Bid for Bugle Boy

Tropical Sportswear International Corp., a manufacturer whose licensed clothing brands include Bill Blass and Van Heusen, said it is considering bidding for the assets of Bugle Boy Industries Inc. that clothing designer Perry Ellis International Inc. said it agreed to buy earlier this month. Tropical Sportswear said the bid would mainly relate to Bugle Boy’s wholesale and licensing operations. Shares of Tampa, Fla.-based Tropical Sportswear fell 13 cents to close at $16.13 on Nasdaq. Perry Ellis was unchanged at $7, also on Nasdaq.
