VENTURA COUNTY EARNINGS

PerfectData Corp. in Simi Valley reported that sales for the third fiscal quarter ending Dec. 31 increased 25% to $484,000, up from the $387,000 reported for the same quarter a year ago.

The company said this was the second successive quarter in which sales increased, primarily as a result of PerfectData launching its first major marketing campaign in years aimed at its existing products.

Despite the sales increase, the net loss for the quarter was $403,000, or 6 cents per share, contrasted with net income of $68,000, or 2 cents per share a year earlier.

The company’s interim license agreement to market the Silkyboard keyboard and screen protector accessory expired Feb. 1. PerfectData is negotiating to acquire licensing or other ownership rights to the product, or at least a distribution agreement to market the product.
