Profit Down for Trade Show Producer

Key3Media Group Inc., the Los Angeles company that stages technology trade shows, said fourth-quarter profit fell 66%, to $5.4 million, or 8 cents a share, on a 16% gain in revenue, to $111.3 million. The results include $7.5 million in compensation-related charges and higher interest costs. Operating income rose 27%, to $41.1 million, in the three months ended Dec. 31. For the year, Key3Media’s profit fell 82%, to $4.7 million, or 7 cents a share, on a 14% gain in revenue, to $286.9 million. Those results included $11 million in compensation-related charges. Operating income rose 28%, to $65.5 million. The company shares gained 5 cents, to $12.40, in Tuesday trading.
