A La Mirada woman who led authorities on an hourlong chase that ended at the Brea police station was being held on $35,000 bail Tuesday on charges of evading a police officer, authorities said.
San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department Deputy Tommy Alcarez attempted to pull over Candice Smith, 30, in an unincorporated area of Montclair about 10:40 p.m. Monday for driving with a suspended license and a traffic warrant.
Smith, who gave police Tanya Maria Moore as her name, allegedly refused to pull over when Alcarez turned on his lights and siren and continued to flee even after she was rammed by another patrol car, said Cpl. Fred Hoffman of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
The California Highway Patrol took over the pursuit when Smith entered the eastbound Pomona Freeway and pursued her onto the Artesia Freeway before she was finally pulled over in front of the Brea Police Department on Randolph Boulevard.
Smith was arrested at 11:47 p.m. Monday by San Bernardino deputies and taken to Rancho Cucamonga where she was booked.
