California’s Win Is First at Tempe Since ’90

Sean Lampley had 21 points, leading California in scoring for the ninth consecutive game, as the Golden Bears defeated Arizona State, 82-67, Saturday night for their first victory in Tempe, Ariz., since Jan. 25, 1990.

Shantay Legans had 16 points and five steals to help the Bears, 9-4 overall and 1-1 in the Pacific 10 Conference, bounce back from a three-point loss to Arizona on Thursday which ended their winning streak at seven games.

Alton Mason had 21 of his 25 points in the second half, and Awvee Storey had 17 points and 13 rebounds, but the Sun Devils (8-5, 0-2) couldn’t keep their 10-game home winning streak against Cal going.

Oregon 84, Oregon State 66--Bryan Bracey scored 20 of his 28 points in the first 10:03 of the second half and the Ducks recovered from an early deficit in the Pac-10 opener for both teams at Eugene, Ore.

Freddie Jones added 18 points and Anthony Norwood 17 for the Ducks (10-1), who have won 14 of 15 against their in-state rival. During a 14:05 stretch beginning in the first half, Oregon outscored Oregon State, 56-19. Deaundra Tanner scored 20 points for the Beavers (6-7).
