NetZero Wins Court Ruling

NetZero Inc. said it won a court order against Juno Online Services Inc., preventing its rival provider of free Internet access from displaying third-party ads in floating windows. The temporary restraining order, granted Friday, extends until March 15. A trial on NetZero’s patent-infringement claims against Juno is set for July. NetZero last month sued Juno in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles for allegedly stealing patented technology used to display messages or advertisements in a window for as long as a user stays online. Juno said the advertising covered by the restraining order accounts for less than 4% of its revenue. Shares of Westlake Village-based NetZero rose 3 cents to close at 81 cents, while New York-based Juno closed up 9 cents at $1.09, both on Nasdaq.
