Rose Brendler; Teacher, Symphony Supporter
Rose Anne Brendler, a longtime county resident and former schoolteacher, died on Tuesday at a Ventura convalescent hospital after a lengthy illness. She was 76.
She was born Oct. 2, 1924, in Pittsburgh and moved to Ventura in 1946. She taught for five years at Lincoln Elementary School in Ventura.
She enjoyed listening to music and was an avid supporter of the Ventura County Symphony.
She enjoyed camping and gardening, but most of all, she enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Robert; son Ed Brendler of Denver; daughters Anna Brendler of Honolulu, Sarah Brendler of Springfield, Ore., and Mary Bruckner of Ocala, Fla.; sister Mary Ellen Artnak of Alexandria, Va.; brothers Herbert Wilson of Connecticut and Robert Wilson of San Diego; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled at 10 a.m. today at the Ted Mayr Chapel in Ventura with Msgr. Arnold Biedermann of Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made in Brendler’s name to Catholic Charities, 303 N. Ventura Ave., Unit A, Ventura, CA 93001.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura.
