Guaranteed to Have Smooth Sailing?

Travel Services International of Delray Beach, Fla., which says it runs the largest network of cruise agencies in the U.S., is promising refunds to any customer who is unhappy with a cruise it books.

Although Carnival Cruise Lines, run by the world’s largest cruise company, Carnival Corp., makes a similar promise, Travel Services extends its “satisfaction guarantee” to all the lines it books, according to John Bloodworth, president of the company’s cruise division. Of course, there are a few restrictions.

For one thing, “we won’t let people double-dip on refunds” from, say, both Carnival and Travel Services, Bloodworth said. Customers, using a special 24-hour phone number set up by the company, must complain within 24 hours of the ship’s departure and must disembark from the first non-U.S. port. The guarantee is valid only on bookings made by March 31 for sailings completed by Dec. 20. The refund covers the unused part of the cruise plus the cost to fly back to the port of origin (including any airline change fees). Tel. (800) CRUISES, Internet https://www.mytravelco.com.
