Rampart Trial Judge Sets April 17 Hearing
Attorneys in the Rampart police corruption case returned to court Tuesday for the first time since a judge overturned the convictions of three Los Angeles officers convicted in November of conspiring to frame gang members.
The brief meeting ended after Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Jacqueline Connor set another hearing April 17 to clear up any outstanding issues while the case is under appeal.
Connor threw out the convictions of Sgts. Edward Ortiz and Brian Liddy and Officer Michael Buchanan on Dec. 22.
The Los Angeles district attorney’s office announced last week that it will appeal Connor’s decision to the state Court of Appeal.
