Harrington Leading Local Bar Association

Ventura attorney Ron Harrington began his yearlong term as president of the Ventura County Bar Assn. this month.

Harrington, 62, who replaces outgoing association President Michael Case, served as secretary-treasurer and president-elect. He has been a member of the association for more than 30 years.

About 1,225 attorneys--nearly 80% of the county’s lawyers--are members.

Harrington graduated from Hastings College of Law in San Francisco in 1967. He has experience in business law, estate planning and real estate law.

Harrington said his main goal will be to increase legal services for county residents who cannot afford attorneys. He also hopes to continue raising money so attorneys can open a privately funded legal aid office in the county.

Ventura attorney Richard Norman is the new president-elect and Tina Rasnow, coordinator of the court’s self-help center, is the secretary-treasurer.
