Manson Isn’t Problem

Share

My wife and I attended the Marilyn Manson concert at the Universal Amphitheatre (“Marilyn’s Moon on the Wane,” by Robert Hilburn, Jan. 15). We went because we just enjoy a fun show (the last singer we saw recently was Wayne Newton) and heard Marilyn does one. He does, but something else became very clear to us: his position in society.

Manson reminds the kids that they are all right. He is a grand middle finger that young people can get together and lift up high enough to make their detractors see it. Marilyn Manson isn’t a problem; the reason kids need Marilyn Manson is the problem.

Now why does Hilburn find a need to do a hatchet job on Alice Cooper? Early on, Alice made a huge impact on rock ‘n’ roll with his elaborate stage shows and entertaining music. He is also a model citizen who gives back to the community and leads a life any parent would be proud of.

I am proud to be one of his fans and it is tiring to see him incessantly mentioned in articles about Marilyn Manson.
