Cranston’s Legacy of Preservation

Share

* Re stories on the late Sen. Alan Cranston: As a champion of the environment during the late 1970s, Cranston tried to create the Orange Coast National Park to preserve the coastal canyons in Orange County. Although the park attempt failed, his effort focused attention on these unique coastal canyon resources.

Today 19,000 acres are preserved within Crystal Cove State Park, Aliso & Wood Canyons Wilderness Park, Laguna Coast Wilderness Park and the open space in the cities of Irvine and Laguna Beach along the marine preserves. We thank Cranston for helping us leave such a legacy.
