NASHVILLE — The record label that launched the careers of country music singers Clay Davidson and Chris Cagle will shut its doors next month in a corporate consolidation.
Virgin Nashville said Wednesday it will close Feb. 12, with artists under contract to be shifted to sister company Capitol Nashville.
London-based EMI Recorded Music owns Virgin Nashville and Capitol Nashville.
Scott Hendricks, president of Virgin Nashville, will leave the company. He is the former head of Capitol Nashville and was named to lead the new Virgin Nashville imprint 2 1/2 years ago.
“EMI will be exploring ways to relocate Virgin Nashville’s remaining staff of 16 at its other Nashville labels,” EMI said.
The company also owns three Christian music labels in Nashville: the Sparrow Label Group, Forefront Records and EMI Gospel.
