Xircom Posts 1st-Quarter Net Sales of $120 Million

Xircom Inc. in Thousand Oaks reported net sales for its first quarter, which ended Dec. 31, of $120.1 million, compared with $124.1 million for the same period last year.

Net income, excluding acquisition-related costs, was $200,000, or 1 cent per share, a steep drop from the $15.3 million, or 55 cents per share, reported for the same period last year.

Including acquisition-related costs, the company reported a net loss of $2.5 million, or 8 cents per share.

Xircom makes notebook computer communications devices. Intel, the giant chip maker, announced earlier this month that it will acquire Xircom for $748 million.
