Anti-Narcotics Sweep Yields 11,892 Arrests

In a major crackdown on drug abuse and trafficking during the last week, police have arrested 11,892 addicts and traders and killed nine traffickers in shootouts, Iran’s official news agency said.
Police confiscated 1,949 pounds of drugs in the four-day nationwide sweep, the Islamic Republic News Agency said.
Mohammed Fallah, an anti-narcotics official, said Iran has 1.2 million addicts and 800,000 occasional drug users.
