From Times Wire Reports

A man who entered the United States in a car trunk and built a multimillion-dollar tomato business in California’s Yolo County seemed to have won election as mayor of Jerez, a city of 40,000 in the Mexican state of Zacatecas.

If results hold up, Andres Bermudez, a 51-year-old with a fondness for flashy western suits and snakeskin boots, apparently will become the first U.S. resident to serve as a Mexican mayor. He was one of three U.S. residents running for mayor in Zacatecas, a central state.
