Good Teachers

John Balzar’s June 29 column, “Picking Food for Thought,” affected me “in the best of ways.” As a parent volunteer, I routinely observe teachers doing quite an excellent job of teaching, supported by very good administrators and covering a challenging and enriching curriculum. Yet attitudes expressed toward public education in opinion columns and letters I’ve read have been mostly negative. Thanks to Balzar for picking up on this good story and thanks to the many teachers and administrators who are doing a “shockingly” good job.
